I used this photo for my self portrait because it shows how I have learned to become more comfortable with who I am. I used value to give my self portrait texture, contrast and shape without having to use various lines. The value also helps to distinguish what certain parts of my portrait are and where the light is coming from. I also used gradation in the tones to show which direction the light is coming from and to have the audiences eyes travel around the portrait.
